Winter 2015: Simon Stephens, Pornography

Between December 10 and 16, the AnglistenTheater staged four performances of Simon Stephens' Pornography, a play that looks at the lives of several people in London at the time of the 7 July 2005 suicide attacks on three underground trains and a bus in London. In a 2008 interview with the Daily Telegraph, the author explained why he had chosen this title: "It struck me that at the heart of [the bombers'] action was an alienation from the people they were going to kill and from themselves. This seemed to be symptomatic of a consumerist culture, which objectifies everyone and everything. And objectification also sits under the production and consumption of pornography. I think we’re living in pornographic times".
